How Sight8 AI collects, uses, and protects your information.
Plain-English summary: Sight8 AI is a tool that helps you understand how AI systems like ChatGPT mention your website. We collect only what we need to run the service, we never sell your data, and you can delete everything at any time.
We collect information in two ways: information you give us directly and information we observe while you use the service.
Account information — When you create an account or update your profile, we may collect your name, email address, company name, and timezone. This is stored locally in your browser (localStorage) and optionally synced to our servers when features require it.
Usage data — When you run an analysis on a domain, we record the domain searched, the timestamp, and the results returned. This data is kept in your browser's local storage.
Website analytics — If you install our tracking snippet on your own website, we collect anonymous visitor data on your behalf. See Section 3 for details.
Communications — If you email us or use a contact form, we retain that correspondence to respond to you.

Sight8 AI provides an optional JavaScript snippet (tracker.js) that website owners can embed on their own sites to measure LLM-driven traffic. When this snippet is active on a website:

Your dashboard data is stored primarily in your browser's localStorage — it never leaves your device unless a server-side feature specifically requires it (e.g. sending a verification email). This architecture means your data is under your control.
Server-side data (analytics events collected by the tracker, email-change tokens) is stored in a SQLite database on a server hosted in Australia. We use industry-standard practices including HTTPS-only access, PHP PDO prepared statements to prevent SQL injection, and WAL-mode SQLite for write safety.

The Sight8 AI dashboard does not use tracking cookies. We use browser localStorage to persist your settings, query history, profile, and notification preferences between sessions. This data never leaves your browser automatically.
The analytics tracker snippet uses sessionStorage (not cookies) for session tracking on third-party websites. This expires when the browser tab is closed.
You can clear all locally stored Sight8 data at any time through your browser's developer tools or by visiting your browser's site data settings.

Because most Sight8 AI data lives in your own browser, you already control it directly. For server-side data, contact us at hello@onsight.ai and we will respond within 30 days.
Browser-stored data (localStorage) persists until you clear it. There is no automatic expiry.
Server-side analytics events are retained for up to 24 months from collection, after which they are purged. Email-change verification tokens are deleted after use or after 24 hours, whichever comes first.
If you close your account or request deletion, we will remove your server-side data within 30 days.
Sight8 AI is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes we will provide additional notice (such as a banner in the dashboard).
Your continued use of Sight8 AI after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
